  I was quoted a price range over the phone to replace a filling that had fallen out which seemed reasonable at the time, so I went in to get it done. Tom suggested that I replace another filling adjacent to it because it was worn so I did that also. When it came to the part where you bite on the paper so he can grind out the contact points so your mouth shuts properly, after quite a few attempts my mouth was still stopping on the filling which left the other side of my mouth unable to close, but he said that it should stay that way otherwise I would continue to wear my teeth down. Needless to say he charged me the highest price quoted in the range for both fillings, and I still couldn't bite properly as it was stopping on the raised filling. I left hoping that it would "wear in" quickly. Around 6 months later, about a quarter of the raised filling chipped off and the other filling that he replaced had a corner missing. I rang them querying about it and they said it could have happened for any reason such as biting on something hard etc, but I know that it was because he left it raised so of course it was being put under stress with every bite. These were the most expensive fillings I have ever paid for and they are the ones that lasted the least amount of time of every other filling I have had in the past. This is a case of not getting what you paid for, and I have now made an appointment for another dentist so I can get them done properly.
